Welcome to the new Mt. Valley Division...

I thought this would be a good opportunity to share my experiences on the subject of fencing. This corner of the MTVAL webpage will be dedicated to sharing my observations, and those of any fencer interested in sharing their own.

A little about myself: I’m Edward Posada and I’ve been involved with fencing for a little more than 50 years; sometimes challenging, always rewarding. As a fencer, I have experienced the thrill of competition, the pain of defeat, and the glory of planning and executing one miserable point.

Both as an athlete and as an administrator, I have found the drama in fencing enticing. Fencing has made my life interesting. My best friends have all been fencers; athletes, coaches, and administrators. It is for these very individuals that I want to share my experiences and observations. Hopefully, we will be able to laugh throughout this journey.

To the fencers:​

Have fun with your endeavor. Prepare and execute your goals the way you prepare and execute each point in a bout. Bring a surprise to your opponent. Learn from your mistakes and consider them opportunities. Celebrate each point, each bout, and each medal — I am sure you have earned it.

To the coaches:​

Thank you. This sport lives thanks to you. You fly on the shoulders of the fencers you train, and I know your reward is etched in memories of years past.

In closing, I want to thank my current students. You keep my life interesting and rewarding.
